Official Publication Policies: Perunthanmai Multi-disciplinary Tamil Studies Journal (PMTSJ)
1. Open Access & Licensing Policy
PMTSJ is a Gold Open Access journal. We are committed to the rapid, global dissemination of Tamil research. All peer-reviewed articles are available online in PDF format immediately upon publication, free of charge to readers.
  • License: Content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
  • Copyright: Authors retain full copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.
2. Peer Review Policy
To maintain high academic standards, we follow a Double-Blind Peer Review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation. The Editorial Board makes final decisions based on originality, methodology, and relevance to Tamil studies.
3. Permanent Digital Preservation & DOI Policy
We ensure the long-term survivability of every research paper:
  • Repository: Articles are permanently archived in Zenodo (CERN) and the Internet Archive.
  • Identity: Every article is assigned a unique Persistent Identifier (DOI) via Zenodo to ensure it remains discoverable, citable, and linked to global research networks.
4. Plagiarism & Research Ethics
PMTSJ maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and AI-generated content. Submissions suspected of being from "paper mills" or containing significant overlap with existing works will be rejected immediately and may be reported to the author's institution.
5. Global Outreach & Translation Initiative
While our focus is original research in Tamil, we select high-quality articles for full English translation. This initiative ensures that significant findings in Tamil studies reach the international South Asian research community.
6. Article Selection & Rejection Rate
To ensure quality, we maintain a selective publication rate of 20% to 30%. Only the most impactful and rigorous research is featured in each issue.
7. Financial Transparency (Fee Structure)
PMTSJ does not charge any fees for manuscript submission or the peer-review process. To sustain our technical infrastructure and digital presence, the following nominal charges apply only after formal acceptance:

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement (PEMS)

Perunthanmai Multidisciplinary Tamil Studies Journal (PMTSJ) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the advancement of Tamil studies. We strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to maintain the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing.

1. Editorial Responsibilities and Fair Play

Publication Decision: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal will be published, based on the reports of the double-blind peer-review process.

Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality: The editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

2. Peer Review Process

Double-Blind Review: All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process by at least two subject experts. Neither the author nor the reviewer knows each other’s identity.

Reviewer Duties: Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may assist the author in improving the paper. Reviews must be conducted objectively, with clearly formulated supporting arguments.

Promptness: Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

3. Author Duties and Integrity

Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. PMTSJ uses Plagiarism X for English and Plagiarisma for Tamil content. Any manuscript found with plagiarism will be rejected immediately.

Multiple/Redundant Publication: An author should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal.

Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

Disclosure and Funding: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

4. Dealing with Unethical Behavior

Misconduct Identification: Misconduct and unethical behavior may be identified and brought to the attention of the editor and publisher at any time, by anyone.

Investigation: The Editorial Board will conduct a thorough investigation while maintaining the privacy of all parties involved.

Sanctions: Serious misconduct may result in the formal retraction of the article, an embargo on future submissions from the author, and notification of the author's head of department or funding agency.

5. AI-Generated Content Policy

PMTSJ has a strict policy against AI-generated content. Research must be the product of human effort. AI tools may only be used for basic grammar checking. Any such use must be disclosed. Manuscripts found to be primarily AI-generated will be rejected.

6. Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing
